Areas & maps

NO RECREATIONAL PROGRAM FOUND. Old Saybrook is not on the state's recreational hotlines & maps list and is not in the state-referenced 2020 recreational shellfishing guide, and the state's Aquaculture Mapping Atlas shows no town recreational shellfish bed in Old Saybrook. The atlas classifies all of Old Saybrook's waters as Prohibited. (A 2004 state/Sea Grant guide said Old Saybrook then had one conditionally approved area; the current state map shows none.) (state: CT DoAg Bureau of Aquaculture classification layer, last edited Mar 27, 2026; read Oct 23, 2026). Recreational harvest is only legal in Approved or open Conditionally Approved areas, never in leased or franchised beds. Do not harvest here unless the town or the state tells you a specific area is open to the public.
